Tasting notes

The Taylor vineyard, situated just below the winery, was established 15 years ago. These mature vines produce fruit which stands out with deep plum and mocha aromas and a savoury note to the palate, lending sophistication to the finish. So fun to taste and compare with our Hidden Valley Vineyard Merlot!

Awards

This vineyard, with 15-year-old vines, is just below the winery. The aromas and flavours reflect quite a different terroir. The wine is concentrated, even meaty, in texture with savoury flavours of plum and fig and with a hint of chocolate. 91 points - John Schreiner Rich plum and mocha flavours are carried on a velvety texture in this full-bodied red. But then the velvet shirt comes off to reveal firm, muscular tannins. It should age nicely for five to seven years. Beppi Crosariol

Winemaking

Hand harvested and sorted fruit was sourced from the more than 15 year old vines of the Taylor vineyard. Controlled fermentation was followed by extended maceration, malo-lactic fermentation in oak, and a further 12 months barrel maturation in French and American oak.
