How does the Hillside Wine Club work?

When you become a Hillside Wine Club member, you are making a commitment to receive regular shipments of wine based on the level you are enrolled. Founder's Level Members will receive six bottles twice per year, in April & September. Founder's Choice Level & Mosaic Choice Level Members will receive 12 bottles twice (total 24 bottles) per year, in April & September.

How much does it cost to join?

There is no fee to join - you are making a commitment to purchase on regular intervals and are only charged for the wines you receive. You must commit to receiving regular club shipments in order to maintain an active membership. 

What are the benefits of being a Hillside Wine Club member?

There are many great reasons to join the Hillside Wine Club! Here are a few of the perks you will receive as an active member:

  • Complimentary shipping on your club shipments and all purchases of six or more bottles
  • Access to club exclusive wines such as the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc
  • Priority access to all pre-releases, new vintages & library wines
  • Complimentary tastings in the Tasting Room for yourself and up to five guests
  • Invitations to exclusive club events such as virtual tastings, virtual dinner parties, winery events & pickup parties
  • Access to our loyalty points program which earns you points with each purchase that can be redeemed on a future purchase or merchandise
  • 1,000 Bonus points on your Birthday & 1,500 bonus points for club anniversary

When are the club shipments?

Spring club shipment is in April, Fall club shipment is in September. Exact shipment dates will be communicated to you via email at least two weeks in advance of the shipment. 

When can I expect to receive my wines?

‘SHIP TO’ OPTION: Your wine will be shipped during the last two weeks of each of the Wine Club shipment months.  Please check to see that your shipping address is complete.  If you have a buzzer, please include it in your address.   A signature is required, so if you have an office address where you can receive the wine, that is preferred.
‘PICK-UP’ OPTION: Please wait for an email from us informing that the wines are ready for pick up before arriving.  The wines will not be available at the winery until you are notified by email. 

Can I modify the wines in my shipment?

Substitutions are not permitted on the Founder's Level (six bottle shipments).  Founder's Choice & Mosaic Choice level members (12 bottle shipments) are committed to receive the regular six-bottle shipment, and they may substitute the other six-bottles in their shipment to be whatever they like for a total of 12 bottles. If no substitutions are made on a 12 bottle level, we will double up the six-bottle selection. We always include exclusive pre-releases and club-only wines in each shipment, so we highly encourage you to take your selection as is. You are welcome to add wines to your club shipment and we will ship them free of charge. Please forward your substitution requests to wineclub@hillsidewinery.ca and we will do our best to accomodate if we are able. 

I don't like one of the wines I received in my shipment. Can I exchange them? 

We cannot exchange wines after they have been shipped out. If you have a preference or dislike a specific varietal, please contact our DTC Manager and we will make a note on your file. 

If I purchase wines outside the club shipment months, does it count towards my commitment?

No. Purchasing outside shipment months does not count towards your club commitment, however, you will receive loyalty points on all your purchases.

Can I skip a shipment?

Yes, you may skip up to two consecutive shipments. You must contact our DTC Manager to skip your shipment. After 2 consecutive skipped shipments your membership will be put on hold. 

How are my wines shipped?

We primarily use ATS Healthcare as our shipper. They offer temperature controlled shipping which keeps wine safe from the elements during transit. For rural and Northern addresses, Canada Post will be used. If you would prefer your wines be shipped via Canada Post please contact us

How am I charged for my wines?

When you provide us with your credit card and signature upon enrollment, you are giving Hillside permission to charge your card for your regular scheduled club shipments in April & October.  Hillside also uses an Auto-Updater tool which works with all major credit card companies to seamlessly & securely update your credit card expiry date. Can I include additional wines to my club shipment?

You certainly can, and the more you buy the more rewards you earn! 
Just log in to your account and add to your order.  Wine Club members have access to wines not yet released to the public so this a good opportunity to add to your shipment. 

If I choose to pick up my wines at the winery, how long will you hold my wines for?

The deadline for pick-up is May 31 (spring shipment), Oct 31 (fall shipment)  If you are not able to pick-up prior to these dates, please email us at wineclub@hillsidewinery.ca and we will arrange to ship it to you. 

Members who pick up their wines will be credited 1,000 loyalty reward points.

What if I miss the pickup window for my wines?

If you miss the pick-up window we will automatically ship the wine to you, but you will not qualify for the bonus reward points.

What happens if I miss the delivery?

Someone over the age of 19 must sign for the delivery.  If no one is home, ATS courier will leave a door knocker so you know they have been there.  You must contact them directly to arrange for a new delivery date.  If alternative arrangements are not made to re-deliver your wine will be shipped back to us and you will incur a re-stocking charge. 

Shipping to an office address is always recommended as someone will be there during the delivery times.  You can always change your shipping address to a place of work or we can make the change for you.

Can I switch membership types?

Absolutely. Your preferences are important to us, and we know they can change from time to time,  We offer flexibility in changing your wine selections or membership provided we are given 14 business days notice prior to the shipping date. If ample notice is not provided,  your initial selection will be used.

How do I cancel my membership?

When you join the Hillside Wine Club, you are committing to membership for the period of ONE YEAR. You must receive 2 regular scheduled club shipments before you may cancel without penalty. You must notify our DTC Manager directly if you wish to cancel your membership. SIMPLY NOT UPDATING YOUR CREDIT CARD OR UNSUBSCRIBING TO EMAILS DOES NOT CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP. 

How do I update my shipping address and/or billing information?

Visit our website www.hillsidewinery.ca.  Sign in to your account on the top right corner of the homepage.  Instructions are there if you have forgotten your username or password.  This is how you can change your shipping address (even temporarily if you are going to be away). 

Or if you prefer, just give us a call at 250-493-6274 Ext 104 and let us handle it for you.


LOYALTY REWARDS PROGRAM:

How do I know how many loyalty points I have?

Your Loyalty Points Balance is available in your Member profile. Simply login to your account via the top right corner of the website to see your reward point balance. 

If in the tasting room, a staff member can simply pull up your account and provide your points total for you!

Do my points expire?

Nope!  Your Loyalty Points are good until the last drop and are redeemable at anytime. If you cancel your wineclub membership,  your point balance at that time remains available to redeem for qualifying purchases. However, your future purchases and spending will not NOT qualify for earning rewards points

What can I spend my points on?

Wine, wine and more wine! You may also use your points toward a Hillside Gift Card, which can be used in the Hillside Bistro. 

Online orders through our website or purchases made in our tasting room are eligible for points.

How fast do I earn points?

That depends on:

1. Which level of wine club membership you belong to.

Founders Rewards Members earn 3 points for every dollar spent
Founders Choice Members earn 5 points for every dollar spent
Mosaic Choice Reward Members  earn 10 points for every dollar spent

​2. How often you purchase wine! The more you purchase, the more you earn!

We offer lots of opportunities to earn more rewards! From birthday bonuses for club members, referral points for any friends or family who join the wine club, pick-up bonuses, and special "Hillsized" promotions throughout the year on specific products – keep an eye on your inbox for notifications on how you can accelerate earnings.

How many points does it take to purchase a bottle of wine?

The calculation is  your point value x .01.  So 2000 points is worth $20.
